I've had a really sh*tty last couple of days.
I think Remo is sick. For two days is a row now I've come home to his sh*t all over the floor in his room. Thank goodness he's confined. Additionally we went exploring at my friends farm and I totally stepped in a cow pie! In my very new, very formerly white tennis shoes!
Trent was waist deep in the farm pond catching frogs with Sam. He got stuck in the muck too many times to count. It was so comical watching him try to pull his boots out and almost going in head first! He managed to catch 2 frogs without falling in. We both hosed ourselves off big time back at the house.
Other than that the last two days were great!
We had a playdate at a new friends house. Long story short, my friend Jenny from my old work, is friends with my friend from Trent's school Peg. Peg's husband is a fabulous cook and made us a lovely lunch. The kids ate Mac-n-cheese and we dined like queens!
Today I had another fabulous lunch at the Henderson farm complete with garden fresh tomato's, basil and cucumbers.
I've been calling them spa lunches because you feel like you are totally being pampered. I said we just needed to have the kids give us pedicures and we would have been set!
We had two very nice days with our friends. Relaxing and being reminded school days are just around the corner.
Chasing Callie!

Camp Crazies!
Thursday night is Family Night at camp. You basically go and walk around camp, check out the available activities, and of course roast marshalmellows. (My brain typed Marshal instead of marsh, I caught myself after the first l. I think I'll leave it!)I was planning on it all week. Thursday was going to be a busy day, and once I left the house at the butt crack of dawn, I wasn't coming back. So in the spirit of preparing for this school year to start. I got everything ready the night before. Hooray for me!
When I went to pick up Callie her councilor told me they were doing an Olympics song for family night. My only thought was, I hope it doesn't rain today cause they'll cancel it, and I gotta jet cause I've got places to go and people to see. Finally taking care of our important business. We are officially responsible adults now. We have life insurance.
I took Callie for a play date with Clara and off I went to my meeting with the financial planner. All of a sudden it hit me like a ton of bricks. I don't have my camera! The kids are doing a skit tonight and I don't have my camera. Pardon the Gen Y expression but OMG!!!!!!! Flashback to Trent's first christmas production at school. I forgot my camera then and cried the whole time they were singing. You think I would have learned my lesson, too much on my mind I guess. This time I still cried, but I was laughing while I was doing it.
I thought about my options and ended up borrowing Becky's camera. A million Thank You's. You saved me. I don't think I would have recovered if I had missed this. It is too hilarious not to be able to watch over and over. I'm still laughing at it! Trent the Jedi Robot and Callie "Oooh Aaah ing."
Friday's are dress up day. The theme of the week was Olympics. I was planning on getting up early and throwing the costumes together. In years past I went all out with Trent. I wasn't feeling inspired this year. It was a crazy day, a late night, I was tired, but at 11pm I couldn't sleep. Just kept thinking about costumes. Finally I got it! My costume creativity didn't fail me.

Such a great camp. Even the councilors get totally into it.

Y.M.C.A.
Summer camp this week at the Y Camp! Trent's 4th year, Callie's 1st. I am so excited for Callie. Everytime I dropped Trent off last year she would ask to go with. Being an alum myself, I am so happy the kids have this opportunity.
Trent has established somewhat of a legacy for himself....Two years ago they had a backwards day and so I made a sign for Trent that said, "Hello, my name is Tnert." From that day foward anyone who was there at the time and still is calls him that. "T-nert" It's such a kick he has his own camp nickname.
Trent goes full day, but Callie only goes half day. When I picked her up after her first day she said, "Mom, can I stay here longer?" I said "No, but you'll come back tomorrow." Instant tears. "But I want to stay for lunch." Twice in the car tears.
She likes me to sing to her before bedtime. "Lull-a-bye and goodnight little Callie I love you. Go to sleep now little Callie and tomorrow we'll play." She asked me to say "and tomorrow we'll go to camp."
I guess she liked it.

The Carni
More chronicals of our summer fun....
Took the kids to Venetian Festival in L.G. this weekend. I looked at the information for wristband night and away we went. Purchased our two wristbands and set off toward the first ride. Bumper Cars! Sorry wristbands don't qualify. Bungee Jumpers! Sorry wristbands don't qualify. We went on the ferris wheel twice and got Marshall super sick on the tilt-a-whirl, Darn thing got me last year! We're getting old!
I would not say we got our money's worth. There was nothing for younger kids, I was really dissapointed, until 5 minutes before the wristbands expired we realized there was a whole seperate kids area at another park a block away! Then I was kinda mad. There was no signs or anything indicating more rides. Next year we will really hit em hard!
This is what $5 wins you at the Carni.
I felt lucky we got off with only buying one bucket of balls. I sent him quietly on his way down the toilet. I wonder how long until the kids realize he's gone?
Another $5 so Trent can "flip like a Jedi". The Carni Man really sent him up like a slingshot. To get an idea of the height, look at the first picture again. This time he is completely above the contraption.

The Cabin
We spent the weekend with my parents at their friend's cabin Up North. It's the typical Northwoods Cabin on the Lake. Wood panels in every room. Two bedrooms, one little old bathroom, old stove, old furniture, old dishes, old canoe, no WIFI and 3 channels on the TV. In other words, perfect for a little R and R. My parents have been going for their anniversary for years. They invited us up last year and we had the best time. All summer the kids have been asking when we were going back. The highlight of last summer's trip was Trent waterskiing for the 1st time. This years trip was spent much the same as last. Fishing, swimming, Trent waterskiing, canoeing, eating great meals and of course - taking lots of pictures.
The big adventure this year was turtle hunting - Trent dumped Gran and the canoe into the swamp. Of course Gran tells it best!
Callie walking on the beach. Me having a little fun with Photoshop!
Several photos' taken....We have success! Both kids are looking in the same direction. Look for this shot in the Christmas letter.
Another fine ski run.
Beautiful clear blue skies with white puffy clouds.
Trent caught 5 frogs and 4 turtles. He is the Master Amphibian catcher!

Spanish Breakfast?
Callie is into Dora the Explorer and Diego these days. She has learned a lot of Spanish words and uses them appropriately, which always makes me laugh. She and Trent were playing and I hear her yell the Spanish word for Help! (I can't spell it.)
We were counting tennis balls and she says, "Uno, Dos, Tres, Waffles! (Quatro)
I am so excited for her to start school in the fall. The assistant in the classroom is from Mexico and they have Spanish class. She is going to learn so much. It will be great to see her blossoming as a little learner!
