What's White and Fluffy and Comes around Easter?

If you guessed SNOW, you're RIGHT!
Congratulations! You win a snowball in the face!
I know! It would make a lot more sense for the answer to be The Easter Bunny!
We woke up to 2 inches of the fluffy stuff this morning and hard to believe, but we made our first snow man of the winter. (Even though I'd like to think this is supposed to be SPRING! A great way to kick off the kids Spring Break!)
Trent had an excellent Frosty all built. I went in to get my camera, but as he was putting the mouth on, this is what I came out to find. The whole thing toppled! Poor snowman! Poor Trent. All that hard work!
Let's try this again! Frosty the Sequel
Callie's Snowgirl

And Mini-Frosty By the end of the day Frosty was all that was left and we were back to green grass again.

Snowpocaplyse 2011

That's what I heard someone describe this snow storm as. I am so glad Marshall was home to do the driveway! GoGo Little Snow-thrower!

Callie and Daddy built a fort to hunker down the night before.

Callie's Debut

The kids had their Christmas Concerts yesterday. I was really excited for Callie's first. I cried all through Trent's first. It was good, but mainly I cried because I somehow forgot my camera. Wednesday morning I overheard the concert coordinator talking about rescheduling because of the weather forcast for the concert day (Friday, 11 inches of snow!). I told them I hoped that they would definitely do it on another day. I wouldn't want to miss Callie's debut! Her teacher told me Callie sang the loudest out of the whole class. I believe that. She loves to sing. Everyday I could hear her in her room or in the car practicing the songs. They ended up cancelling school for that day and pushing it to yesterday. It was a good decision. Today (Friday) we got 8 inches! (Got all those days straight???) I was all set, camera in hand. Here are a couple of clips. (Click the triangle to play, turn on your speakers.)

This year Trent was concertrating more on throwing snowballs than singing, but that was more fun to watch anyway!

To Shovel - Almost!

The kids wanted to go outside, so I decided I should probably do the shoveling. Two words, Wet and Heavy! I want to point out that yesterday it was a sunny 40' and there was not a bit of snow anywhere to be found. Today 7"!

It turns out it was a good thing I went out to start because my neighbor stopped me and said she would have her dad plow me out! Hooray! I've been waiting all winter for her to say that! I feel bad because I have been utilizing her neighborlyness a lot lately and the one time she needed something from me I couldn't help her out!

Not having to do the drive way gave me some time to play. Being on such a Star Wars kick lately, it's only fitting that we have a Snow Yoda. After I made up the brown part Trent asked if we could make a Snow Mace Windu (Samuel L's Character.)

I love, LOVE daylight saving time. Almost 7pm and it's still light out!

P.S. My prediction was right. Darn snow!

To Shovel or Not to Shovel?

Well, the weather man was right, darn him! Its been snowing all day and no signs of stopping. To shovel or not to shovel, that is the question?
Marshall is in Nebraska with plans of pushing through to home tonight after his afternoon appointments. I'm thinking that's gonna be a long trip! I can't predict the weather, but I can make a pretty confident prediction: one more night in the hotel for him!
School was cancelled, so I feel like I've gotten bonus time! I've been very productive! Shades of my former self! Organized the house, packed for the trip (4.5 days and counting!). The biggest accomplishment was cleaning Trent's room. I was hoping for about a month he would take the initiative to do it himself, but it was very clear that wasn't happening anytime soon. I tried to keep him involved in the process, but even that wasn't too successful. When we, no....I was done he told me I, "did a really nice job!" Its good to know he appreciates the effort.

Enough Snow Already!

Well, scratch that, the flight was cancelled! Poor guy sits in the airport all day to find out its cancelled anyway.
I'm out to work on the driveway again. Did I say before that I finished the job???? Still snowing! And snowing, and snowing and snowing and snowing and snowing.....

Snow Day

As expected, we had a snow day today. I've been out to clear the driveway once already. It will no doubt need it again tonight! I wanted to publicly thank the person who sold us our $13 rummage sale mini snow thrower. That thing is a champ! We've had it for 5 years now and it sure does the trick. One pull and we're up and running. I've used it 3 times in the last week! My arms are so exhausted from pushing all that heavy stuff around, it hurts my forearms to type! It feels good though. Knowing I accomplished the job. Can't remember when we've had more snow. Picked a great year to start Trent skiing!

Spent the rest of the day hanging out with the kids. We made indoor snowballs (rice krispy treats).

Marshall comes home tonight yeah! Delayed 5 hours of course! It will be nice to have him back again. He had a great experience at a conference in Las Vegas. Got to meet Lou Ferrigno aka: The Incredible Hulk.
